STEP-FREE ACCESS TEMPORARILY RESTRICTED

Please note that the lift at Pitzhanger Manor is currently out of order until further notice following a safety inspection.

The Manor and exhibitions remain open as usual, and all floors continue to be accessible via stairs. However, visitors who require step-free access will currently only be able to access the lower ground level (via the Colonnade), the Wonder Room, and the Monk’s Dining Room.

Pitzhanger Gallery remains fully accessible, with lift access functioning as usual.

We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and apologise for the inconvenience caused.

7 and 8 October 2025

A Printmaking Teacher CPD inspired by Howard Hodgkin

Overview

Join our free, online Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session for teachers and educators in all key stages to explore the vibrant and emotionally charged world of Howard Hodgkin’s printmaking practice. Inspired by the upcoming retrospective exhibition, participants will explore how Hodgkin depicted moments and memories through bold, abstract forms, offering a rich lens through which to engage students with art.

Hodgkin was renowned for his intense paintings and prints, which, despite their abstract nature, aimed to evoke specific memories or feelings. His work often blurs the line between representation and abstract form, using vivid colours and expressive brushstrokes to capture fleeting moments and intimate experiences.

Participants will be greeted by the Learning Team, have a short introduction to our exciting upcoming exhibition and schools programme. Then, you will see a visual printmaking demonstration led by artist-practitioner Lauren Veevers. Lauren has designed a printing activity to equip teachers with tools to engage students with the exhibition and broader artistic concepts – all from your classroom, resourced with a school-friendly budget and everyday repurposed objects!

Lauren Veevers is a London-based illustrator, animator, and arts educator/facilitator. Her diverse practice encompasses printmaking, ceramics, film, and woodwork, frequently blending playful characters with narratives and storytelling. Beyond her personal work, Lauren actively collaborates with various community groups to deliver exciting and engaging arts workshops.

Print Demo Overview

Join Lauren Veevers as you learn to create textural monoprints using a variety of materials. Armed with recycled paper and everyday objects, you’ll learn to create a range of decorative artworks that celebrate the joy of both the finished piece and the creative process itself. This expressive and experimental approach to art-making welcomes those whose strengths may not lie in traditional art forms and can be enjoyed by people with varying skill levels. Following the mono printing demo, you’ll see different ways to transform your textured papers into greeting cards, decorative objects, and more!

Attendees will also receive a tailored resource pack to share with staff teams and integrate into classroom practice, ensuring the session’s impact continues beyond the day.
