The main gallery is currently closed for exhibition changeover. Pitzhanger Manor and Marthe Armitage: Pattern Maker remain open, with discounted admission available.

On 8–19 July, further closures will be in place due to filming activity. During this period, the main gallery, café, shop, Monk’s Dining Room and Wonder Room will be closed. Discounted admission will remain available for access to the open areas of Pitzhanger Manor, including Marthe Armitage: Pattern Maker.

Visitors requiring step-free access to the Manor on 8–19 July will need to enter and exit via the Eating Room door from the Front Garden. The accessible toilet in the main gallery will not be available; the nearest accessible toilet is at the Rickyard in Walpole Park, near the playground.

New works by Clare Woods RA arrive at Pitzhanger this summer, unfolding across the manor and the gallery.

This summer, the fluid and vibrant paintings of Clare Woods RA will transform Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery. Clare Woods: Garden Without Seasons presents 29 new and recent works created over the last four years, bringing together paintings, collages, and prints infused with both her trademark wet-look oil paint and layers of contemplative meaning.


Responding to photographs of flowers and everyday objects, Woods creates a visual world that lies between abstraction and figuration — both familiar and ambiguous. Created during and after the pandemic, these works invite us to slow down and look more closely, exploring themes of nature, time, absence, and memory within the historic interiors and gardens of Pitzhanger.

Celebrating Our Volunteer Gardeners

Meet the volunteers who care for Pitzhanger’s gardens that continues to inspire visitors, artists, and our community.

Behind every flourishing flower bed and carefully tended border is a team of volunteer gardeners who give their time, knowledge, and enthusiasm to Pitzhanger throughout the year. Join us at our annual Plant Sale to browse plants grown and donated by the team, pick up expert gardening tips, and learn more about the work that happens behind the scenes. Their efforts help preserve a landscape first shaped as part of Sir John Soane’s country estate, ensuring it can continue to be enjoyed by visitors, wildlife and future generations.

Final Days for Phoebe Collings-James

One last chance to experience this acclaimed exhibition before it closes on 14 June.

Phoebe Collings-James’s exhibition a rose, a bridge, a house featuring her richly worked ceramics will close on Sunday 14 June. If you’ve been meaning to visit — or would like to spend more time with the exhibition — this is your final opportunity.

Members can enjoy unlimited return visits throughout the exhibition’s final weeks, alongside Marthe Armitage: Pattern Maker and the historic manor.

Young Architects Take Over the Wonder Room

Discover how local young people are reimagining Pitzhanger through architecture, creativity, and design.

This June, Pitzhanger joins the London Festival of Architecture with two events celebrating the next generation of architects and makers. Visit the Wonder Room Architecture Takeover, a display of models, drawings, and ideas created by local pupils in our Architecture After School Club, inspired by Sir John Soane’s vision for Pitzhanger and the built environment around us. Then help create a collective map of Pitzhanger and Walpole Park at Mapping Pitzhanger on Sunday 7 June, a free drop-in family workshop inviting families to uncover the buildings, landscapes, and stories that shape our local area.

Our Team

Meet the Team: Emma Wilson

Creating opportunities for young people to explore art, architecture and their own creativity.

I am the Schools Engagement Manager at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, where I have the privilege of working with schools and creating opportunities for children and young people to engage with art, architecture, and creativity. Before joining Pitzhanger, I spent eighteen years teaching art in Ealing and have also worked as an artist educator and gallery educator in museums and galleries.

My favourite part of the role is seeing the joy and wonder of children encountering Pitzhanger for the first time — whether that’s walking through Sir John Soane’s front door or sharing their thoughts about the artworks on display. I also love getting messy in our creative workshops, from Mini Makers in the Rickyard to activities inspired by our exhibitions.

Some of my standout moments so far include planting imaginary trees with nursery children during Howard Hodgkin: In a Public Garden, playing creative games with students, and welcoming SEND groups into our galleries. Looking ahead, I’m especially excited about the creative opportunities our upcoming Peter Blake exhibition will bring.

The Gardening Drawing Club Returns

A popular annual favourite returns to Pitzhanger for an evening of planting, drawing, and conversation.

Join artist Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck and the Gardening Drawing Club for a free hands-on workshop exploring the simple pleasures of planting and drawing. Returning to Pitzhanger as part of our July Thursday Late, this welcoming session invites adults of all abilities to slow down, observe nature and learn practical planting techniques while sketching from life. Whether you’re a keen gardener, a curious beginner or simply looking for a thoughtful evening in inspiring surroundings, places are limited, and advance booking is recommended.

Partial Closures & Discounted Admission: 8–19 July

Parts of Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery will be temporarily closed from 8–19 July due to filming activity. The main gallery, café, shop, Monk’s Dining Room and Wonder Room will be closed during this period.

Discounted admission is available for access to the remaining areas of the Manor, including Marthe Armitage: Pattern Maker. A temporary pop-up shop will be available inside the Manor.

Visitors requiring step-free access to the Manor will need to enter and exit via the Eating Room door from the Front Garden, as the usual accessible route through the main gallery and Colonnade will not be available.

The accessible toilet in the main gallery will also be unavailable during this period. The nearest accessible toilet is at the Rickyard in Walpole Park, near the playground.

Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery is open as usual on Thursday 6 August, 10am–8pm. For visits before 3pm, please continue to book general admission as normal.

Our special Thursday Late: Garden Party takes place from 3pm–8pm and has a separate booking page.

For the Garden Party, all tickets are Pay What You Can. Choose to pay £7, £5, £3, £1, or visit free of charge.
