Pitzhanger Manor is closed for a private event on Friday, 3 May. The Gallery remains open with half-priced admission for the day. Enjoy full access to the Manor and Gallery over the weekend and on Bank Holiday Monday, 6 May. We appreciate your understanding. Book your visit.
Come to our special February Open Sunday for an interactive storytelling performance for the whole family with Lottie from Magic Box and a comic-making workshop with New Yorker magazine cartoonist Sarah Akinterinwa!
Magic Box provides fun, interactive storytelling sessions where kids help tell the story using the odd things found in the Box.
Children guess what theme the story will be based on. They follow Lottie, as a character, into this themed adventure where they can role-play, move around the imaginary space – and sing songs!
Each session involves listening, speaking and spatial awareness and helps children understand simple instructions in a structured yet fluid environment.
The age range in each session – 18 months to 6 years – means children of different ages take away different experiences from the session. The younger ones enjoy the actions, copying, singing, and pretending; the older ones enjoy these elements too but also feel confident in contributing to the story.
Adults are always encouraged to join in with their children, giving their small ones confidence to explore the story — and a chance for everyone to have fun and ‘pretend’ together.
There will be two performances of this storytelling session, the first at 10.30 am and the second at 11.30 am. As the performance is interactive, the duration is fluid and may run between 45-60 minutes.
Drop into our Education Room in the Manor for a fun, all-ages workshop on the art of visual storytelling through comics and cartoons with New Yorker cartoonist Sarah Akinterinwa!
This workshop will run during our Open Sunday event (10.00 am – 12.30 pm).
