Overview
Come to our June Open Sundays and celebrate the coming of summer!
Please note that our art workshops and storytelling sessions are drop-in events and are not intended to be registered art classes. These sessions tend to be very busy at the beginning, so arriving later on will result in less crowding.
4 June: Architectural Explorations (London Festival of Architecture)
Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery presents a special Open Sunday for London Festival of Architecture. Participants of all ages will explore the festival’s theme of ‘In Common’ with a playful, family-oriented tour of the Manor led by storyteller extraordinaire, Judy Preece, and a drop-in workshop with artist Amy Leung to design architectural models inspired by the designs of Sir John Soane, the architect of Pitzhanger.
11 June: Flower Paintings and Plant Sale
In response to Dutch flower paintings, you will create your own! Try using pastel colours and different tones to create layers with artist Jennifer Mesrie. Join the Pitzhanger Plant Sale in the forecourt for unique plants, handmade pots, and interactive beekeeping experiences.
18 June: Spiral Spinners
Taking inspiration from spirals in nature and throughout the interior design of the Manor House , drop in and join artist Sarah Richardson to create a personal crafty spiral spinner and see how it spins in the summer breeze.
25 June: Windrush 75
HMT Empire Windrush arrived in Britain on 22 June 1948 with more than 800 passengers from the Caribbean. To mark the 75th anniversary of the day, Pitzhanger is hosting a family celebration of Caribbean culture in Britain with storytelling by Jordan Campbell and an art drop-in workshop with Tyan Jones.
Jordan is a storyteller who focuses on stories from the Caribbean and Africa but has also fallen in love with many stories from around the world. His stories have taken him to festivals, charities and schools across the UK and as far as Jamaica!
