Celebrate Ealing with We AR The City, an exciting art project by Sol Golden Sato at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery. Across three Sundays in October, families are invited to join free, walk-in art workshops to create unique wearable architecture using sustainable and recycled materials. These art workshops aim to inspire children and their families to explore urban development and reimagine their built environment.
In the workshops, participants will design and craft wearable sculptures that reflect Ealing’s natural and built surroundings. On the last Sunday in October, these creations will take centre stage in a vibrant High Street parade through Ealing town centre, showcasing the wearable art pieces in a community celebration of creativity and local identity.

Do you live in Ealing? Are you interested in the built environment? Or are you just wondering what the deal is about Wearable architecture?
We invite families, children, and people of all ages to creatively (re)discover the high street and (re)imagine their built environment.
The project will be led and delivered by Malawi-born West London-based artist Sol Golden Sato to design and wear architecture, which will then feature a parade of wearable architecture through Ealing High Street and the town centre, culminating in a cityscape display of the wearable architecture at Pitzhanger.
Workshops will explore themes of urban development and sustainability, and participants will be invited to draw inspiration from Ealing’s natural and built environment when making their costumes. All materials will be sustainable and recycled to craft wearable architectural sculptures.
The parade, led by Sol Golden Sato and the children with their guardians, is a community event. It will begin at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, wind its way through Ealing town centre, attracting attention and picking up participants along the route. With the assistance of participants, Sol Golden Sato will then put the models together and arrange a public installation at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery.
Open Sundays is our vibrant family programme held every Sunday morning. These sessions offer a variety of drop-in art workshops, with artists and themes changing weekly to provide a fresh and engaging experience each visit.
Entry to Open Sundays is included with general admission. Coinciding with our Pay What You Are Able hours for Ealing residents, families from the London Borough of Ealing can enjoy these activities by contributing an amount of their choice upon presenting proof of address. Children outside the borough are also welcome to join for free when accompanied by a paying adult. Join us to explore the manor and its exhibitions while engaging in creative family fun. Advance booking recommended.
