About ‘We AR The City’
Do you live in Ealing? Are you interested in the built environment? Or are you just wondering what the deal is about Wearable architecture?
We invite families, children, and people of all ages to creatively (re)discover the high street and (re)imagine their built environment.
The project will be led and delivered by Malawi-born West London-based artist Sol Golden Sato to design and wear architecture, which will then feature a parade of wearable architecture through Ealing High Street and the town centre, culminating in a cityscape display of the wearable architecture at Pitzhanger.
Workshops will explore themes of urban development and sustainability, and participants will be invited to draw inspiration from Ealing’s natural and built environment when making their costumes. All materials will be sustainable and recycled to craft wearable architectural sculptures.
The parade, led by Sol Golden Sato and the children with their guardians, is a community event. It will begin at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, wind its way through Ealing town centre, attracting attention and picking up participants along the route. With the assistance of participants, Sol Golden Sato will then put the models together and arrange a public installation at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery.
