MAIN GALLERY CLOSURE & JULY FILMING UPDATE

The main gallery is currently closed for exhibition changeover. Pitzhanger Manor and Marthe Armitage: Pattern Maker remain open, with discounted admission available.

On 8–19 July, further closures will be in place due to filming activity. During this period, the main gallery, café, shop, Monk’s Dining Room and Wonder Room will be closed. Discounted admission will remain available for access to the open areas of Pitzhanger Manor, including Marthe Armitage: Pattern Maker.

Visitors requiring step-free access to the Manor on 8–19 July will need to enter and exit via the Eating Room door from the Front Garden. The accessible toilet in the main gallery will not be available; the nearest accessible toilet is at the Rickyard in Walpole Park, near the playground.

Overview

Build, imagine and play this summer as PlayWorks returns to Pitzhanger for three days of free, child-led outdoor play.

Previously known as Assemble Play, this much-loved family favourite invites children to build, invent and explore with giant blocks, boxes, flowers, branches, colourful fabric and all sorts of weird and wonderful loose parts in the walled front garden of Pitzhanger.

PlayWorks is the much-loved play project originally developed by Assemble Play and now led by PlayWorks Studio. This August’s sessions will be delivered by Outdoor People and their experienced team of Playworkers, continuing PlayWorks’ unique approach to creative, child-led play.

Advance registration is recommended and free. Registering helps us plan for the event and keeps you informed with any updates before your visit.

You’re also welcome to simply drop in on the day and join the fun.

About PlayWorks

Led by dedicated Playworkers, PlayWorks creates playful environments where children are free to explore, build, imagine and play in ways that are freely chosen, personally directed and intrinsically motivated.

About Outdoor People

Outdoor People is a Hackney-based organisation helping children and families connect with nature through play. Working with schools, communities and cultural organisations, they create playful outdoor experiences that encourage creativity, curiosity and adventure. This August, Outdoor People will deliver PlayWorks at Pitzhanger with their experienced team of Playworkers.
