Enjoy an evening with food writer Felicity Spector at Soane’s Kitchen
It is a privilege to welcome to Soane’s Kitchen a woman who needs no introduction in the culinary world: the one and only Felicity Spector. We have teamed up with Felicity to bring you a special sharing-style vegetarian menu, inspired by her love and passion for fresh produce.
Expect prosecco on entrance, a delicious three-course meal and specially created cocktails to go with every course.
“I love cooking with seasonal fruit and veg and I wanted a supper club that would truly celebrate the joys of our summer produce – starting with lots of Middle Eastern inspired dips with chunks of warm seeded soda bread – then bowls of spelt risotto bright with fresh greens and swirled with a herb pesto to pass around with dishes of roasted heritage carrot and fennel salad with tahini (of course there is Tahini) and summer tomatoes simply dressed with good olive oil and sumac. And dessert of course, a fruit tart, with a streusel crumble topping and scoops of almond ice cream.”
Felicity Spector

🌟 Today marks the beginning of an extraordinary journey for John Soane! On this day, 18 March 1778, he embarked on his Grand Tour, a pivotal chapter that shaped his architectural genius.
Influenced by his European travels, Soane`s architectural choices are reflected throughout Pitzhanger Manor. The manor’s main façade is modelled on the triumphal Arch of Constantine in Rome, which Soane saw on his Grand Tour and adapted for use in the Bank of England. On each Ionic column stands a female figure, a caryatid, similar to those on a temple on the Acropolis in Athens. The Breakfast Room, bathed in morning sunlight, echoes the intimacy of Italian villas. 🏛️✨
Experience the immersive legacy of Soane`s Grand Tour at Pitzhanger Manor today. Walk through the manor and be transported across Europe. 🏰

🌸✨ To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re going to shine a light on Eliza Soane, wife to Sir John Soane. Mother of two sons, John and George, 👩👧👦 George developed a habit of getting into bad debt and eventually found himself in debtors’ prison. Despite her husband`s reluctance, and therefore likely behind his back, Eliza repaid the debt to get her son out of prison.
Enraged by his fathers refusal to to pay, in September 1815, George wrote a scathing article attacking his father’s article. 🖌 On being shown them, on 13 October, Eliza cried out, ‘These are George’s doings – he has given me my death blow – I shall never hold up my head again.’
So, what do you think? Is Eliza a good mother? 🤔 Tell us in the comments below and visit Pitzhanger to discover more about the Soanes’ riveting history. 💖
