A London and West Country-based theatre company which aims to produce modern classics, rediscovered gems and especially new writing, and through this to support young talent in the theatre industry. In 2023 the company staged Tonight Will Be a Memory Too, a new play by Andrew McGuinness at The Playground Theatre in London, garnering **** reviews, and before that toured David Greig’s The Letter of Last Resort in a Cold War themed double bill with Idle Discourse’s Tales from Star City. PlayGC’s new writing commitments for 2024-25 include: co-sponsoring, with the Alan Davidson Foundation, a new playwriting bursary at the Royal Court Theatre, London (first recipient Oli Forsyth’s play BRACE BRACE ran from October to November 2024); co-producing the first full professional production of Christopher Reid’s witty dramatic poem Six Bad Poets to be directed by Anthony Biggs; developing and staging a new work for piano and spoken word to mark the 300th anniversary of the publication of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons; and developing a new play, Can’t Kill the Spirit, which received a two-night staged reading at The Playground Theatre.
