Pitzhanger Perspectives: Pablo Bronstein
Overview
Pablo Bronstein is an Argentinian artist who lives and works in London. Bronstein has exhibited widely nationally and internationally including Tate Britain, Pallant House Gallery and Sir John Soane’s Museum. He approaches his interest in architecture through a wide range of media, from drawing and installation to choreography and performance. Bronstein’s recent show of works on paper at Sir John Soane’s Museum saw him borrow fragments and images from Soane.
One thing I like about architecture is its attempt at aspiration, its desperation. I’m not excited by good-quality, decent, sophisticated buildings. I like buildings that want to be seen as better than they are.

Pablo Bronstein will be in conversation with the Director of Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, Clare Gough. He will speak broadly on his work and influences, many of which he shares with Soane; both reveal a fascination with architecture, a sharp appropriation of historical styles and a joint appreciation of Joseph Michael Gandy and Piranesi.
Sir John Soane used Pitzhanger Manor to entertain his wide circle of friends, celebrities and potential clients, bringing together opera singers and politicians, academics and poets at eclectic dinners. Inspired by this spirit of Pitzhanger as a forum for interesting encounters and enlightening debate, Pitzhanger Perspectives is an ongoing series of conversations with contemporary thinkers and creatives.
