WORKSHOPS

Our school workshops are designed to provide a flexible framework for schools to interact with various elements of Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, meaning there’s something new to see with each visit! Our workshops can be tailored to meet your age group, learning objectives, and the needs of your students. Whether you want a workshop focused on the architectural elements of the manor, the artwork on display in the gallery, or the history of the manor and the surrounding area, including the life of Sir John Soane, there’s a workshop for you!

We warmly welcome SEND groups to visit the Manor & Gallery and can adapt all of our core workshops according to the needs of your students.

Architect’s Apprentice: KS1 – KS5, SEND

Art & Design, Design & Technology, History

Students become architects and designers in our exciting architecture-themed workshops, facilitated by one of our team of amazing artist practitioners. Using a range of materials and methods, pupils will explore concepts of form, structure, and the context of the built environment. This workshop is adaptable to all age ranges, from Key Stage 1 up to Key Stage 5.

Art as Inspiration: KS1 – KS5, SEND

Art & Design

What is inspiration and how can art inspire us? Led by an experienced artist facilitator, students will explore the work of contemporary artists with a particular focus on our Gallery exhibition(s) to gain inspiration and then create their own art works! This workshop is adaptable to all age ranges, from Key Stage 1 up to Key Stage 5.

Explore with Eliza: EYFS, KS1, SEND

English, History

Join Eliza Soane, beloved wife of Sir John Soane, on a fun-filled tour of the house in which she once lived. The various spaces of the Manor and its Grounds come alive with activities and games exploring what life was like in this historic house over 200 years ago!

Every Vase Tells a Story: EYFS, KS1, KS2, SEND

Art & Design, History

Led by artist and storyteller Judy Preece, students will hear the story of Sir John Soane’s Grand Tour of Europe, explore the Manor inspired by Soane’s visits to ruins of opulent Classical temples across Italy, and have the opportunity to design their own Classical vase with their own story, based on an explorative tour of Pitzhanger Manor.
