We warmly welcome SEND groups to visit the Manor and can adapt workshops according to the needs of your students.

OVERVIEW

Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery offers an inclusive learning programme, including guided tours, workshops and outreach engagement, tailored to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Through creative, sensory-based workshops and engaging art and heritage activities, the programme is designed to be accessible, flexible, and responsive to diverse needs. Participants are encouraged to explore the manor’s rich history and contemporary exhibitions in a supportive environment that fosters confidence, communication, and self-expression.

Choose from three adaptable sessions: Art as Inspiration, where students explore creative expression through art-making inspired by the current exhibition; Architect’s Apprentice, a hands-on workshop exploring shapes, structures and design; and Outdoor Learning, where pupils connect with nature and local history through sensory and exploratory activities. The free guided visits also include bespoke activities to enhance learning.

Architect’s Apprentice

Art & Design, Design & Technology, History

Students become architects and designers in our exciting architecture-themed workshop, facilitated by one of our team of amazing artist practitioners. Using a range of materials and methods, pupils will explore concepts of form, structure, and the context of the built environment.

Art as Inspiration

Art & Design

What is inspiration and how can art inspire us? Led by an experienced artist facilitator, students will explore the work of contemporary artists with a particular focus on our Gallery exhibition(s) to gain inspiration and then create their own art works.

Outdoor Learning Workshops

Art & Design, Geography, Physical Education, Science

We have a range of outdoor workshops that take place within Walpole Park that are led by an expert outdoor learning educator. Whether looking at brilliant bees or building dens as part of Forest School, these workshops excellently complement a visit to the manor. Contact us for a list of all of our Outdoor Learning workshops!
