About this event

Join us for the first Sunday of each month for special tours, workshops and creative activities inspired by Pitzhanger and our exhibitions, including storytelling and children’s trails.

Art Workshop

To celebrate the completion of Pitzhanger’s new volunteer and community space Pitzhanger Hub, artist facilitator Kirsten Lyle will lead a family modelling workshop using recycled materials and relating to how Jo Townshend Architects took inspiration from John Soane’s designs. Participants will use boxes and various light-gathering materials to create a “room in a box” inspired by the lighting, interiors, and architectural elements of Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery.

Kirsten Lyle is an artist and art educator living and working in London. She makes sculpture, drawing and painting. Her work explores materiality and perception in relation to the visual environment. Her sculptures are often made with materials that hold colour and light. Kirsten has worked in arts education for over 20 years and brings construction techniques from disparate sources such as traditional kite building, commercial display and prop-making to her practice and enjoys exploring construction techniques in her workshops.

Storytelling

Storyteller Lennette Randall will perform as Queen Nala of the Land of Nyaya, sharing her love for stories from diverse parts of the world infused with music and dancing. Storytelling sessions run at 11am and 12pm – booking is required to secure a place.

Lennette Randall’s love for story began in the small parlour of her great grandmother’s home in Freetown, Sierra Leone. She is a cosmopolitan who has lived on the East and West Coast of the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. Although storytelling has always been a significant part of her life, her journey as a professional artist began when she moved from London, England to train at Rosebud School of the Arts in Alberta, Canada.

Children’s trails available in the Manor for visitors 5+ including Imagined Spaces, our new Spotters’ Trail, Architect’s Apprentice and Plants at Pitzhanger. Collect a reward from the front desk after completing yours!
