Sensory Tours — Idris Khan & Annie Morris: When Loss Makes Melodies

Overview

Walk in the footsteps of Sir John Soane and his family on an imaginative, sensory tour for children, families, and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to explore our latest exhibition, Idris Khan & Annie Morris: When Loss Makes Melodies.

Go beyond just seeing this wonderful exhibition. Participants will touch and feel different materials to explore the textures of the artwork, and experience sounds and smells that evoke the feelings we might get from it. You will even get to touch and feel materials from the artists’ own studios to get closer to the art! Discover how the similarities of themes, ideas and processes explored by the exhibition harmonise with the life and works of Sir John Soane.

Bring the work alive with a different perspective, including:

  • Creative and interactive engagement of sound, movement, touch, smell and light
  • Delving into an exploration of personal themes, colour, shape, materials and form set within the building and echoed within the artists work
  • Comparing the personal lives of two families spanning over 200 years, exploring the highs and lows of family life experiences

This hands-on immersive experience will be led by artist and narrator Sarah Richardson.

Sarah Richardson is a practising multi-disciplinary artist, dedicated to sharing her passion for creativity through public engagement and playful discovery. Experienced in leading practical workshops for all ages and abilities, Sarah brings a fresh energy to stimulate individual creative expression.
