Come to Pitzhanger for a special Teachers’ CPD session in partnership with the University of West London.
This special free Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session for teachers and educators in all key stages explores how to use local cultural hubs, like Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, as teaching resources across the curriculum. It’ll be a great opportunity to network with local teachers who are looking to support their students and develop their educational and cultural capital by engaging with their local university.
We really hope you can join us to discuss and explore this work in a fun, supportive environment with like-minded educators and practitioners.
Co-presented with the University of West London (UWL), educators will take part in a creative workshop with an artist practitioner from Pitzhanger and an academic workshop with experts from UWL.
First, artist and educator Lucy Eccles will lead a creative workshop instructed by a sample lesson plan interacting with Pitzhanger Manor’s unique spaces and vibrant architectural history. This workshop will equip educators with the tools to adapt Lucy’s architectural analysis of Pitzhanger to any space explored. This lesson plan will be available to all participants after the session, suitable for a variety of key stages.
In the next session, UWL experts will apply architectural principles to school buildings. Delivered by Dr Efcharis Balodimou (Haroula) and Prapooja KC, the workshop will be an exciting opportunity to explore how architecture can influence teaching, learning and wellbeing of students and teachers. This workshop will be a rich source of inspiration for local educators in their respective communities and will aim to link the architecture of the historic house and design genius of Sir John Soane, to contemporary life and culture.
This session is open to teachers and educators in any key stage and subject. Educators working in out-of-school and informal learning settings are also welcome to attend.
Light refreshments will be provided in this session, and there is a scheduled time for networking towards the end of the session.
