We are thrilled to announce the birth of baby beavers in London, at an Ealing nature reserve, for the first time in 400 years! Conservationists say they are ‘over the moon’ with the news, which shows ‘humans and wildlife can thrive side by side in urban environments’. Congratulations to the Ealing Wildlife Group, Art Fund, and The Wild Escape project, all of whom played an important role in making this possible.

Check out footage of the baby beavers below:

At Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, we participated in The Wild Escape, a project hosted by Art Fund that unites hundreds of museums and schools in a celebration of UK wildlife and creativity. Our project at Pitzhanger supported the efforts of local conservation organisations, including the London Beaver Working Group, by inspiring children to discover the history of this remarkable animal. Artists and ecologists collaborated with children in workshops at the gallery and in schools, exploring the beaver’s role in our local ecosystem and their skills as eco-engineers. We are so happy to be a part of the journey to bring beavers back to London.

We also had a beaver trail (as seen below) at Pitzhanger, come along and enjoy!
