Join digital illustrator and concept artist Matt Dixon and Applied Arts’ Senior Artist Mark Stirling as they reveal the magic behind translating Matt’s illustrations into life-size robot figures in our exhibition, ‘A Sense of Wonder’: The Curious Robot World of Matt Dixon.
Find out about the different phases of the collaborative fabrication process, how Mark interpreted subtle cues in the robot’s poses in 3D and the difference between the virtual 3D of Matt’s video game design and the physical forms.
‘A Sense of Wonder‘ is gathered from the digital paintbrush of Matt Dixon, who created his first robot character as part of the Transmissions series in 2006. He has been exploring this preternatural world ever since, including the design of the O2 robot mascot Bubl.
Applied Arts is a multi-disciplined creative workshop based in East London, with a team of experienced technical artists specialising in the design and creation of props, specialist costumes, technical effects and prosthetics with over 40 years of experience.
