Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery presents a special Open Sunday for London Festival of Architecture. Participants of all ages will explore the festival’s theme of ‘In Common’ with a playful, family-oriented tour of the Manor led by storyteller extraordinaire, Judy Preece, and a drop-in workshop with artist Amy Leung to design architectural models inspired by the designs of Sir John Soane, the architect of Pitzhanger.
Pitzhanger Manor is the Grade 1 listed country home of Sir John Soane, designed by Soane in 1800 in what was then rural Ealing. For the first time in its history, every part of the Manor is now open to the public, surrounded by a park and a bustling urban environment. In this workshop we will look at how spaces like Pitzhanger have changed over time to better suit the common good of the communities in which they exist.
This special Open Sunday is free for Ealing residents, and includes loads of fun activities for families in Pitzhanger’s Manor and Gardens, including:
Storytelling Tour with Judy Preece:

Art/Architecture Workshop with Amy Leung
If you were in charge of redesigning London, what public spaces would you design? Who would they be for and what materials would they be made out of? What colours would you include? Draw and make a special space to meet your friends in – perhaps it is a dream playground, park or building? What would happen in this place? Be inspired by images of common spaces across the ages.
Drop-in Times (latecomers will be admitted if space permits):
10:30am – 11:00am
11:15am – 11:45am
