Join artist Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck for a playful sculpture session inspired by her practice and the sculptures of Anthony Caro. Use your experience of the world around you to create miniature sculptures using an array of simple techniques and everyday materials including: foil, paper, cardboard, wire and air-drying clay.
Caro is known for his use of unconventional materials such as scrap metal, wood, and found objects, that challenged traditional ideas about sculpture and its materials. His work is characterised by its bold use of colour and sense of movement and balance. We will explore Caro’s approach to sculpture-making, working through addition to bring together found materials like pieces of a puzzle, to create our own abstract sculptures.
Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a complete beginner, come and experiment with new materials and techniques as we explore Caro’s influence on contemporary sculpture.
