Pitzhanger is hosting a diverse range of engaging events to explore and celebrate architecture and city-making.
Join us at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery as we celebrate the London Festival of Architecture in June 2023. This month-long celebration of architecture and city-making across London has a theme of “In Common,” which explores how we create and shape the space we share: our city and how we make the most of what we have in common.
To mark this occasion, we’re hosting a series of events that offer something for everyone. Keep reading to learn more.

Collaborative Drawing into Sculpture
Join young artist Alex Heard for a collaborative workshop exploring the sculptures of Anthony Caro. Through drawing and playful installations with cardboard and found materials, we’ll better understand Caro’s use of space and its relation to the human figure. This event is all about exploring what we have in common and learning from each other by sharing creative practices.
Discover the architectural and design details of Pitzhanger Manor, designed by Sir John Soane in 1800, with Director Clare Gough on a special tour. Learn about the unique history of this building, which has served as a public library and contemporary art gallery, and learn about the recent restoration project that restored it to Soane’s intended design.
Don’t miss the documentary screening featuring interviews with the artist and visits to his studios in London and the countryside. Shown alongside our current exhibition, this screening offers a unique opportunity to hear Caro’s thoughts on understanding abstract art.
Bring the whole family to explore the Festival’s theme of ‘In Common’ with a playful tour and workshop. Design your own architectural models inspired by Sir John Soane’s designs. Free for Ealing residents, with storytelling tours and drop-in workshops available. Don’t miss out on this fun-filled family event! Ealing Borough residents enjoy FREE admission.
