Reflecting on Pitzhanger’s record-breaking 2024.
2024 has been a landmark year for Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery. We smashed our visitor records, drawing 63,000 people from the local community and beyond—surpassing even our pre-COVID opening year.
As we gear up for an exciting 2025, here’s a look back at some of our favourite moments from 2024.

Thanks to the generosity of Julian Opie and many donors—topped off by a public campaign—Pitzhanger proudly acquired Opie’s digital artwork Curly Hair. This irrepressible walking man now strides permanently towards our entrance, brightening the day for visitors and celebrating our commitment to contemporary art.
The sunniest Sunday in May saw BBC Antiques Roadshow roll into Pitzhanger, attracting 3,500 visitors (and a few wheelbarrows of family treasures!). Four months later, three episodes aired on BBC One, showcasing Pitzhanger’s meticulous restoration and sharing the personal stories behind cherished heirlooms. It was a day—and a broadcast—to remember.

Education is at the heart of what we do. This year, nearly 15,000 people took part in our learning and outreach activities. From workshops with local schools to creative outreach across Ealing Borough, we have inspired new generations with art, architecture, and storytelling.
We have been busy championing Ealing’s vibrant community of creatives. Highlights included the powerful exhibition Southall Resists 2024 (in partnership with Southall Community Alliance), exhibitions of works by locally based artists and collectives, screenings with Ealing Film Festival, the launch of the first-ever Ealing Book Festival, and the We AR the City parade of wearable architecture made from recycled materials by talented young artists during our Open Sunday workshops. Local talent was truly on show!
Pitzhanger’s Hub, a contemporary meeting and community space designed by Jo Townshend Architects, won the coveted RIBA London Award this year. Inspired by Sir John Soane’s timeless architecture, the Hub combines elegant and practical contemporary design alongside the historic Lodge.
This year Pitzhanger presented an extraordinary array of exhibitions across the Gallery and historic house ranging from Grayson Perry’s cheeky and satirical tapestries to Tim Bret-Day’s striking photographic portraits; Katherine Gili’s bold sculptures to Sinta Tantra’s shimmering paintings inspired by her native Bali.

December brought a milestone as we achieved record-breaking visitor numbers: across 2024 we’ve welcomed 63,000 visitors— surpassing our opening pre-COVID year.
We could not do this without you—our visitors, volunteers, local community, and many generous supporters, including Ealing Council, Alan Baxter Foundation, Garfield Weston Foundation, John Lyons Charity, Fidelity International, and many generous individuals. Your contributions help us to engage our community and inspire creativity for all. Thank you.
Next year promises to be just as equally varied and, we hope, just as intriguing! Subscribe to our newsletter for preview details.
Whether you are here for an exhibition, event, workshop, or just a coffee, we cannot wait to welcome you back in 2025.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
From all of us at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery.
